Detailed Itinerary Day By Day

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Your 6 days safari in Uganda begins with an early departure from Kampala or Entebbe. You will drive north for approximately 3 to 4 hours along the Gulu Highway to reach Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Upon arrival, a ranger will guide you on a walking trek to observe the white rhinos in their natural habitat. This close encounter provides a chance to learn about these magnificent animals. After your rhino tracking experience, you will have lunch before continuing your journey to Murchison Falls National Park, which takes another 3 to 4 hours. Arriving in the late afternoon, you will check into your lodge and relax in anticipation of the adventures that await you.

Day 2: Murchison Falls Game Drive and Boat Cruise

On the second day of your safari in Uganda, you will start with an early morning game drive in the northern section of Murchison Falls National Park. This is the best time to see wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, lions, and various antelope species. After your game drive, you will enjoy a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile, traveling to the base of Murchison Falls. During the cruise, you can observe hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species, including the African fish eagle. After the boat ride, you will disembark for a hike to the top of the falls, where you can witness the Nile River squeezing through a narrow gorge before plunging 43 meters. Return to your lodge for dinner, reflecting on the day’s wildlife sightings.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Day three of your safari in Uganda involves a transfer from Murchison Falls to Kibale National Park. This journey takes approximately 7 to 8 hours, with lunch en route. As you travel south, you will pass through charming villages and scenic landscapes. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way, including various bird species and perhaps even some monkeys. Upon arrival at Kibale National Park, known for its high population of chimpanzees, you will check into your lodge. This area is also home to other primates, such as red-tailed monkeys and black-and-white colobus monkeys. After settling in, you can relax and prepare for the next day's activities.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk

On the fourth day of your safari in Uganda, you will participate in chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park. After a briefing at the park headquarters, you will trek into the forest with a guide to locate a community of chimpanzees. Once you find them, you will have up to an hour to observe their behaviors and interactions. In the afternoon, you will visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a nature walk. This community-run sanctuary is home to eight species of primates and an impressive variety of birds, including the Great Blue Turaco. The walk allows you to appreciate the rich biodiversity of the area while supporting local conservation efforts. After a fulfilling day, return to your lodge for dinner.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On day five, you will leave Kibale National Park and travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This drive typically takes about 3 to 4 hours, and you may pass through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Upon arrival at Bwindi, you will check into your lodge and prepare for the next day's gorilla trekking adventure. Bwindi is home to several habituated gorilla families, making it a prime location for observing these incredible creatures in their natural setting. In the evening, you can relax and enjoy the sounds of the forest as you anticipate the memorable experience that awaits you.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking and Return to Kampala/Entebbe

On the final day of your safari in Uganda, you will participate in gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After a morning briefing, you will enter the dense forest to track one of the habituated gorilla families. The trek may take several hours, but once you find the gorillas, you will spend an unforgettable hour observing them up close. After your trek, you will begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, making a stop at the Equator line in Kayabwe for a photo opportunity and souvenir shopping. Arriving in Kampala or Entebbe in the late afternoon or evening, your safari in Uganda will conclude, leaving you with lasting memories of wildlife encounters and cultural insights.
