On the first day, you will arrive in Uganda and start your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which takes approximately 6-7 hours. Along the way, stop at the Kayabwe Equator crossing, a well-known landmark where you can take photos and learn about its geographical significance. This stop usually lasts about 30-45 minutes, allowing time for refreshments and souvenir shopping. After your visit, continue driving, engaging with local culture and experiencing the scenery. A packed lunch will be enjoyed on the way. Upon reaching the park, embark on an evening game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, known for its diverse wildlife. Expect to see elephants, lions, and various antelope species. After this drive, check into a nearby lodge for the night, resting up for the activities planned for the following day.
The second day begins early with a morning game drive, providing an excellent opportunity to spot leopards, hippos, and many bird species as they become active at dawn. This drive typically takes around 2-3 hours. Return to your lodge for breakfast before heading to the Kikorongo Equator crossing, which should take about an hour to visit. Here, you can engage with local crafts and enjoy refreshments. After your visit, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where you will have about 2 hours to observe hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birds from the water. Following the cruise, drive to Mbarara town for an overnight stay, reflecting on the day's experiences.
On your final day, your journey will take you to Lake Mburo National Park, about 1.5 hours away. A morning game drive here will allow you to see buffaloes, zebras, and elands, lasting around 2-3 hours. The park is also home to numerous bird species, providing ample birdwatching opportunities.
