Your adventure starts with an early morning departure from Kampala, driving southwest through lush, terraced hills and local Ugandan towns. You will cross the Equator line for memorable photo opportunities before proceeding into the rugged Kigezi Highlands. By late afternoon, you will arrive in the Kisoro region near the borders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Here, you will take a serene, introductory boat ride on Lake Mutanda. Surrounded by the majestic Virunga Volcanoes, the lake is an excellent spot to watch birds and soak in the breathtaking mountainous landscape. You will settle into a cozy lodge overlooking the water for dinner and a restful night as you prepare for the wilderness tomorrow.

Start with an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for a mandatory pre-trek briefing with expert rangers. You will be assigned to a habituated gorilla family and begin your trek into the dense, misty tropical forest. Hiking through tangled vines and steep terrain can take 1-8 hours depending on the gorillas' location. Once you locate the gentle giants, you will spend one hour observing them forage, groom, and play—a truly magical and profound wildlife encounter. Afterward, you will hike back to the starting point to receive your tracking certificate. You will then be driven to the stunning shores of Lake Bunyonyi for a relaxed evening and dinner.

Wake up to the serene sounds of nature and the misty, terraced slopes of Lake Bunyonyi. Known as the "Switzerland of Africa," this peaceful body of water is famous for its 29 islands. Spend your morning canoeing to explore the fascinating historical islands or taking a guided nature walk to learn about local culture. After an incredible lakeside lunch, you will begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. You will make a scenic stopover along the equator for any last-minute souvenir shopping or hemispheric experiments, concluding your unforgettable 3 Days Gorilla trekking, Lake Mutanda and Lake Bunyonyi expedition.
