In Kibale, you can see chimpanzees and over 12 other primates, including red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. In Murchison Falls National Park, you will capture the falls from the top with rainbow background and from the bottom on a boat cruise. You will see lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and other antelopes during game drives, and while on the boat, you can capture crocodiles, hippos, and a variety of water birds. You will also photograph Budongo Forest and plenty of baboons in Ziwa, where you can see rhinos on foot. On your way back, you can capture local markets.
Your 11 Days Uganda Photography Safari begins upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport. You will be greeted by your driver-guide, who will assist you in transferring to your hotel. After checking in, explore local attractions such as the Entebbe Botanical Gardens or the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre. These locations provide a great introduction to Uganda’s wildlife and natural beauty. Enjoy a delicious dinner at your hotel, and prepare your photography gear for the adventures ahead. This first day sets the tone for the exciting journey through Uganda’s remarkable regions and wildlife.
After breakfast, set off for Lake Mburo National Park, about a 3 to 4-hour drive from Entebbe. This park is famed for its open savannah and diverse wildlife. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, take a game drive to see wildlife such as zebras, impalas, elands, and buffaloes. Capture images against the backdrop of acacia trees and rolling grasslands. Later, enjoy a boat trip on Lake Mburo, where you can photograph hippos and various waterbirds as the sun sets over the water.
On Day 3, rise early for a guided nature walk in Lake Mburo National Park. This activity allows you to get close to wildlife, including birds like the African Fish Eagle and the Great Blue Turaco. Capture photos of unique flora as you stroll along the trails. In the afternoon, take another game drive to explore different areas of the park, looking for wildlife such as topis, warthogs, and bushbucks. Return to your lodge for dinner, reflecting on the day’s wildlife encounters, and preparing for the next legs of your safari.
Depart Lake Mburo early in the morning and travel to Lake Bunyonyi, known for its picturesque islands and rolling hills, a journey of approximately 4 to 5 hours. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and enjoy lunch overlooking the lake. Spend the afternoon exploring by boat, visiting local islands and capturing vibrant images of village life. This setting provides ample opportunities for photography, focusing on the colorful landscapes around the lake and interactions with local residents. As evening approaches, take advantage of beautiful sunset shots over the lake to complete your collection.
On Day 5, dedicate your time to cultural immersion around Lake Bunyonyi. Visit local communities and participate in traditional crafts, allowing you to capture the essence of Ugandan culture through your photography. The vibrant colors of traditional attire and daily life present fantastic photo opportunities. In the afternoon, consider another boat ride to get different perspectives of the lake and its surroundings, focusing on the islands and scenic backdrops. As the day winds down, set up your camera to capture the sunset over the lake, enhancing your portfolio with stunning images.
After breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its mountain gorillas. The drive takes about 3 to 4 hours through lush landscapes. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and prepare for the gorilla trekking adventure. After lunch, attend a briefing on the trekking rules. As you hike through the dense forest, look for unique flora and fauna. Capture images of the forest's richness and wildlife while setting the stage for the remarkable encounters awaiting you with these magnificent creatures.
Today is dedicated to gorilla trekking in Bwindi. After an early breakfast, head to the park for your trek. Guided by experts, you’ll hike through the forest in search of a mountain gorilla family. Expect a challenging yet rewarding adventure, as you capture images of these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Spend time observing their behavior while respecting their space. After the trek, return to your lodge, reflecting on the day’s encounters and reviewing your photographs, marking this day as a highlight of your photography safari.
In the morning, leave Bwindi and travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which takes about 2 to 3 hours. Once you arrive, check into your accommodation before heading out for an afternoon game drive. The park is known for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, hippos, lions, and the famous tree-climbing lions of the Ishasha sector. Capture photos of the animals as they roam through varied habitats, which include savannah grasslands and wetlands. After a rewarding day, enjoy a relaxing dinner at your lodge, preparing for more adventures.
Start your day with a guided boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, providing excellent opportunities to photograph hippos, crocodiles, and countless bird species. The boat ride offers unique angles for wildlife photography along the water's edge. Afterward, take a game drive for further wildlife observation, focusing on different animal species such as warthogs, buffalos, and various antelope. Capture striking visuals of the diverse scenery. Return to your lodge for dinner and reflect on the day’s wildlife interactions and the photos you captured during this exciting adventure.
Depart Queen Elizabeth in the morning for Kibale National Park, famous for its primate diversity, which includes over 1,400 chimpanzees. The drive takes approximately 2 to 3 hours. After arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon chimpanzee tracking adventure. As you trek through the forest, keep your camera ready not only for the chimps but also for other wildlife such as L’Hoest’s monkeys and various bird species. After the trek, return to your lodge to unwind and review your day’s captures over dinner.
On the final day of your 11 Days Uganda Photography Safari, travel to Murchison Falls National Park, taking about 5 to 6 hours. Enjoy scenic views along the route. Upon arrival, start with a guided game drive where you might see elephants, lions, leopards, and giraffes roaming the park. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile, allowing you to photograph the impressive Murchison Falls and wildlife along the banks. Visit the top of the falls for panoramic shots. This concluding day offers a fitting finale to your photographic journey through Uganda’s rich wildlife and natural beauty.
