This is more than just a typical 7-Days Tanzania safari to see lions, leopards, rhinos, buffaloes, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and pink flamingos; it’s an exceptional deep cultural and wildlife immersion in Tanzania. On this 7-Days Best of Tanzania Safari: Grumeti/Mara River Crossing and Masai Homestay, you will explore four of the best parks on this 7-Days Tanzania safari: Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire. You will follow the migration points depending on where the concentration is highest, particularly close to the Grumeti region or the Mara River crossing regions. Mingle with the brave cattle culture of the great Maasai tribe, witness the stunning Ngorongoro Crater, and see the iconic baobab tree, an ancient tree of life where both man and animal can obtain water and which is believed to be a sacred tree to some tribes in Tanzania.
Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your 7-Days Best of Tanzania Safari: Grumeti/Mara River Crossing and Masai Homestay, you will be greeted and welcomed to Tanzania by our company guide. You will have time to transfer to a local market in Arusha for approximately 2 hours. Here, you can gather fresh ingredients (that you might not have carried from Singapore) for your upcoming cultural cooking experience while immersing yourself in the vibrant local culture. In the market, you will find welcoming faces of local men and women mostly speaking Kiswahili. After collecting the ingredients, you'll embark on a 2-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Once you arrive, check into your lodge within the park, where you’ll have time to relax and acclimatize. Enjoy a welcoming dinner at the lodge, surrounded by the sounds of nature, and prepare for an exciting day of exploration ahead.
After an early breakfast at your lodge, you'll set off for a morning game drive in Tarangire National Park, renowned for its ancient giant baobab trees and large elephant herds normally spotted taking water at the Tarangire River. This game drive will last about 3 hours, offering opportunities to spot wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, and elephants. In the afternoon, you can do another game drive safari or decide to do a sundowner experience. You may also opt to have the first taste of participating in a cultural activity with a Maasai community, including dancing and learning about their way of life.
Following breakfast, drive for about 1.5 hours to Lake Manyara National Park, located in the Great Rift Valley region with beautiful scenery, known for its large flamingo populations and unique tree-climbing lions, and having the largest population of baboons. Enjoy a game drive focused on spotting birds and other wildlife for approximately 3 hours. Keep an eye out for elephants and the park's distinctive fauna during this time. Then transfer to Ngorongoro Crater.
On this day, drive approximately 1.5 hours to the Ngorongoro Crater. After descending into the crater, spend around 5 hours on a game drive, exploring this UNESCO World Heritage site known for its exceptional biodiversity. Look for the "Big Five": rhinos, elephants, lions, leopards, and buffaloes. Here you have chances of spotting all the Big Five on one single game drive safari and various bird species while taking in stunning landscapes and unique ecosystems. The rich biodiversity and breathtaking views make this a highlight of your 7-Days Tanzania safari. Usually, there is a special viewpoint where you can view the crater’s beauty from an angle of ascent or declination. This also serves as a great photography point. Capture memorable moments as you encounter wildlife in this beautiful setting, ensuring a thrilling and educational experience.
This day takes you on a 3-hour drive to the Western Serengeti, home to the Grumeti River, where you can witness parts of the Great Migration. Imagine thousands of wildebeests and zebras together in a herd, all moaning and braying in their distinctive sounds, kicking up dust and protecting each other from the surrounding predators. After breakfast, enjoy a game drive focused on observing river crossings and large concentrations of wildebeest, lasting about 3 hours or beyond. This dynamic spectacle is a highlight of the migration season. Optionally, you may choose to spend the night near the Grumeti River area in provided tents by the lodge to maximize your wildlife viewing opportunities. The thrill of being near such a significant natural event is a defining moment of your 7-Days Tanzania safari.
Today, immerse yourself in a unique cultural cooking experience with a Maasai community in Lioborsoit Village. The Maasai people are very welcoming, and they will assist in gathering more ingredients with community members, spending hours with them in engaging activities. Cook your home Singapore cuisines and share them with the Maasai people to taste. The Maasai will also prepare their local dishes, creating an intimate experience as both sides learn about each other’s cultures and foods. While at the Maasai villages, you will tour the traditional homesteads (manyattas) to see daily life, watch craft demonstrations such as beadwork and fire-making, listen to cultural talks by elders, and purchase handcrafted souvenirs at the market. You can also learn about Maasai traditions and beliefs, observe rituals, and interact with the community to gain an authentic cultural experience. You will also consider an optional overnight stay with a Maasai family to deepen your cultural insight into their daily lives. This day perfectly blends culinary exploration with cultural immersion on your 7-Days Tanzania safari.
On your final day of your 7-Days Best of Tanzania Safari: Grumeti/Mara River Crossing and Masai Homestay, you will return to Arusha, with either your bought souvenirs or gifts from the Maasai leaders and locals. The drive may take you approximately 1 hour from this Maasai village to 5 hours while reflecting on memories of hunting lions and struggling zebras and wildebeests. After arriving in Arusha, you can take some time to relax at your lodge before preparing for your departure from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). If you wish to extend your adventure, consider staying an extra day to explore more of Tanzania’s treasures or engage in additional activities. Your time in Tanzania has been filled with unforgettable experiences, wildlife encounters, and cultural insights, leaving you with lasting memories.
